Waikato Mini Newsletter for Oct – Dec 2015
✤ Polio NZ went to the Beehive:
The nibbles and drinks at Parliament was well attended, and enjoyed by
those who were able to attend. A heart warming response from the
invited MP’s was encouraging. and thanks were extended to Catherine
Delahunty (Greens party), Barbara Stewart,(NZ 1st) and Paul Foster-Bell
(National) who had helped make it all possible.
✤ Wellington AGM: The AGM was
held, and the changes to the constitution as had been circulated were
voted on, and passed.
✤ A well deserved Life Membership was awarded to JB Munro.
✤ Gordon Jackman was appointed to
our first paid role, as National Program Manager. His funding was from
a grant, for 6 months, and hopefully will be extended at that time. His
tasks are Support, Health Service Provision, Education,
and Capacity Building. A tall order, but if anyone can do it, it
is Gordon.
✤ New Polio NZ Board: Board
members for 2016 were elected as follows; President Barry Holland, Vice
President Sue Griffin, Secretary Jeanette Aldridge, Treasurer Diane
Matthews, Board members Penny Humphreys, Stephen Griffith, Heather
Hopson, Susan Kerr, Judy Lawley, and Brian Robinson.
✤ Waikato Show: We have applied
for a site at the Wellbeing Waikato Show next year April 10 - 12. We
have received a grant for the registration and expenses from SPAN Trust
for which we are very grateful. We will be asking for volunteers to man
the stand. More details later.
